F. Jeannet made Schuetzen muzzleloader made in Locle Switzerland a city near the French border about 1850. The lock is marked F. Jeannet Au Locle. Right top side of the forend is missing some wood and has been for a very long time is it is worn smooth from handling. The ramrod is missing, as are two small wood screws that hold the escutcheon on the rifles right side of the forearm. The tang sight is missing as is the palm rest. Engraving on the breech, buttplate and lock. The engraved trigger guard is one piece that extends all the way and includes the ramrod timble. The heavy barrel is marked "Acier Fondue" which translates to cast steel. Circa 1850. Actual weight 12.90 lbs.

The wrist is checkered and the stock is cracked at the wrist but I can not tell if it has been repaired as it seems stable.
