Trapdoor Springfield 45-70***Sold***

45-70 Trapdoor Springfield rifle with an excellent bore, stock dated 1881 which is about right for the serial number. Owner says this rifle shot very accurately and was used in some military rifle matches. Front sight has a nicely done taller front brass blade, the Buffington rear barrel sight is marked R. There is some pitting on the top and bottom of the breech block in the breech area that does not affect it function. Very light pitting in front of the rear sight. Steel pistol grip. Good case colors remain on the breech block, barrel bluing is flaking in some areas with fine salt and pepper pitting.
