Antique 1889 Marlin 38 WCF Caliber***Sold***

This antique Marlin 1889, made circa 1892, is a hard to find model in .38 W (38 WCF) caliber lever action rifle. This was a limited production model made in 1889 when it was introduced as Marlin’s first side ejecting rifle. One of the more desirable and difficult of the early Marlin rifles to locate. This one is complete and fine mechanically with very good conditiion walnut stock with minor handling marks. The barrel bore has pitting with strong rifling the finish is turning plum, the magazine has most of the original blue remaining, 24" octagon barrel. Buckhorn rear sight with bead front sight, excellent sharp and clear markings on the barrel top with last patent date of 1889 and “38 W” (for .38 Winchester Center Fire. The top of the barrel appears to be marked "From J.Dodof Duluth MN" on two lines. Correct “MARLIN SAFETY” marking on the receiver top. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS background check in most states.
