Antique Ballard #2 Sporting Rifle chambered in 44-40, Bore is 60% to 70%. 28" full tapered octagon barrel. J. Marlin manufactured between 1875 and 1879. Receiver and barrel are original with matching numbers. The barrel was draw filed and sanded (400 grit). Professionally hot blued, surface pits acid treated so bluing goes all the way to the bottom of the pits. New straight grain walnut butt stock and fore end. Professionally fitted and hand applied oil finish. Ebony tip on forend. Receiver, firing mechanism, lever and butt plate professionally case hardened.
