Winchester 1876 Carbine North West Mounted Police Model made exclusively for Cimarron by A. Uberti using an original from the Cimarron collection. In 1878 these carbines were issued by Winchester to the North West Mounted Police in Canada, the forerunner to the current Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The '76 Carbine became famous when some N.W.M.P. units credited their new carbines with much of their success in suppressing the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 by the Cree Tribe and the "Metis" at such famous battles as Cut Knife Hill and Fort Pitt.
