In 1875 Major George W. Schofield identified and patented improvements in the design of the Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 American and the Schofield Model No. 3 was born. The latch on the Schofield can be operated with one hand while on horseback and empty cases automatically ejected. Considered by many to be superior to the Colt SAA when in the hands of mounted troops. Specs: Standard blued finsih, 5" barrel, 2 piece walnut grips, .38 Special caliber.
