By Dorothy M. Johnson. The Bloody Bozeman was the trail that led to the gold fields of Montana. John Bozeman and John Jacobs charted the trail in 1863. It cut off 400 hard miles from the older way that followed the Emigrant Road farther west. In 1866 the Army established the forts and in 1868 gave up, for the trail led through prime hunting grounds of the Sioux, led by the great Red Cloud. For six years in the 1860's before the army abandoned its three forts along the way, yielding to Red Cloud and his warriors, this book gives the reader a vivid look at life during the time period detailing many of the Indian battles, early settlers and the military had in this area. 338 pages, 6" x 9". Soft cover.
